Through evocative drawings and a knack for explaining science in a simple way, British cartoonist Darryl Cunningham illustrates the 15-year effort to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. Darryl takes the reader on a journey into the biology of the disease and its historical toll on women and newborns. He then shifts focus to the harsh terrain of hot deserts and dense forests, where health workers do everything they can to reach pregnant women with the tetanus vaccine, in a bid to ensure no mother or newborn dies of tetanus in the future.
“I was pleased to help promote awareness of tetanus, and give credit to the thousands of health workers on the ground who work so hard to try and eliminate this terrible disease.”
